Awareness
Effective
phonemic instruction teaches students to become aware of, think about, and
manipulate sounds in spoken language.
Specifically, learning to blend and segment the phonemes in words
provides the greatest benefit to struggling readers.

manipulate phonemes as they construct meaning about how language works.
